Thor (2011) Review

"You are now banished!"

Thor isnt the most popular Marvel hero in the lineup, and it seems that it would be very hard to adapat his story to screen
How did it turn out?
GREAT!

Thor tells the story of the God of Thunder being cast out of Asgard for his arrogant ways, his brother Loki is set to become king now, and no one wants that.
So Thor has to prove himself on earth to gain entry back to Asgard

Thor's story is simple, and action packed, and very funny.
The humor points out how ridiculous the story is, but that makes us accept it better.
The movie is a great comic book movie, easily on par with the Iron man films!

Verdict: Must see/buy/Watch it friends

Good
  • Action packed
  • Funny
  • Great story
  • Great action
  • Fantastic action
Bad
  • A little long
  • Maybe confusing to some

Fast Five (2011) review

"Running aint freedom"

Let me get this out of the way, I havent seen ANY other movies in this series, so take it at that

Fast Five is the fifth entry in the "Fast and Furious" series, since I cant compare it to its predescors, I'll judge it on it's on right.

"Fast Five" is one of the best popcorn movies I've seen, it is well paced, action packed, funny, and somewhat dramatic.
The chracters are enver in any real harm, no matter how outrageous the action on screen is, and Dwayne johnson (The Rock) plays a good Villian.
Overall, this movie as sparked my intrest in the series and I will be looking into the earlier entrys

Verdict:Must see/Rental/Watch it with friends

Good
  • Well paced
  • Funny
  • Action packed
  • Nice stunts
Bad
  • Some Cliches
  • Characters never in any real harm
  • Some Immature lines

Rio (2011) Review

I LOVE Jessie Eisenburg

Rio is the new animated comedy from the creators of "Ice Age"
How does it compare with Ice age?
I enjoyed "Rio" very much, it was funny, cute, had good graphics, good voices, a great family film, and it didnt shy away from Brazils social problems

The movie is about Blu (Jessie) being the last male of his species, so he has to go mate with Jewel (Hateway) so their species can survive
The movie is fast paced, with a good amount of laughter (For an adult, for a kid probably a HUGE amount) and is enjoyable for both audiences

Verdict: Matinée/Rental/for the kids

Good
  • Funny
  • Cute
  • Family Oriented
  • Entertaining enough for Adults and Children
  • Doesnt shy from addressing Rio's social problems
Bad
  • A little Immature
  • Slapstick humor
  • Some Cliches

Saw 2 (2005) Review

"Oh yes, there will be blood"

"Saw" a series that started as a Low budget, one off thriller/horror movies, then turned into a series with 7 movies, 2 GAMES, toys, costumes, and a COMIC. Yep.

So how did this sequel, produced less than a year after the first one, turn out?
Very good!

Saw 2 starts with Jigsaw, wanting to play a game as always, kidnapping Decteive Eric Matthews (Donnie Whalberg) son, and tells him if he will talk to him for a few hours is son will be "Safe and sound"

This is saw, things arent that easy.

So what Eric sees play out infront of him, is eight people locked in a house, slowly dying for nerve gas, and one of them is his son, so yea HE MAD.
Saw 2 is probably the best second entry in a horror series EVER (Prestigious title isnt it?) the movie moves fast, is violent, has decent (Sometimes annoying) acting, and a great plot. Oh yea and the twist WILL get you

Disclaimer: MUST SEE the first movie to understand

Verdict: Must see/buy it cheap/watch with friends

Good
  • Contuies the first story from the first film
  • HAS a story
  • Violent
  • Great drama
  • The twist ending
Bad
  • Must see the first to get it
  • Violent (Very "gross")
  • Disturbing for some

Scream 4 (2011) Review

Whats your favorite Scary Movie?

Well if you're me, it isnt the "Scream" series.
I enjoyed the first scream but after that I really didnt follow them, the first was original, I would say it revolutionized the Horror Genre for the 90's.
So did I like this "Scream"
Yes.

The movie is very self-aware and takes many pokes at itself, it is violent, funny, and satirical. The only thing missing is some nudity (It is a HORROR film lol)
The acting is standard horror fare and the violence is cranked up several notches from previous Screams.

Verdict: Matinée/Rental/buy it cheap

Good:
  • Most of the Original cast
  • Funny
  • Violent
  • Has a story
  • some nice characters

Bad:
  • A little long
  • Some spotty Dialogue
  • Ending

A clockwork Orange (1971) Review

This would sharpen you up for a bit of the old Ultra-Violence

A Clockwork orange is a revolutionary (Not to mention one of my favorite) movies of all time.
The movie is about delinquent Alex De large, and his gang of droogs.
The movie was controversial at its time of release for it's explicit nudity and rape scenes.
The movie has no flaw points, if you love movies, it isnt for everyone =p

Verdict: Must see/Must own

Good
  • Nice character development
  • A great cinematic achievement
  • Violent
  • funny

                                                                                Bad

  • Violent, rape, and langue
  • not for everyone

Get Him to the Greek (2010) Review

Another Brand movie Huh?

Well I really love Apatows way of making comedies (Funny and a little serious)
But did I like this movie?
HELL YES
It was funny as hell, who knew P. diddy could act?
It starts kinda slow but 30 mins into it and you wont stop laughing
Both Brand and Jonah Hill (Superbad) have a bright future ahead of them, and hopefully Diddy will act more.

Good

  • Funny
  • P DIDDY
  • Great drama (Apatow signature)
  • Great songs
  • Great party movie

Bad

  • Starts slow
  • Very vulgar (Could be bad depending on who is viewing)
Verdict: Must see/rental

I really fucked it up this time

I think this is a very catchy and sad song, I'd rather this be popular than autotune garbage

Source code (2011) Review

I am a BIG Jake fan

Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies, but as of late Jake has been in a slump (Love and other drugs =/)
So did this movie fix that?
Kinda

The movie seems like it was based on a Phillip K. dick novel, and while intimaly you think it will be a boring movie, about 20 minutes in things get going.
The acting is very good (Namely from Jake) and the action, direction, and cinematography are also very good. Also there is one scene in the movie that is absolutely gorgeous.

This movie was leading its way to a solid MUST SEE or a 9, but alas, Hollywood opted for a happy ending.

Verdict: Full price/Rental

Good

  • Thrilling
  • Action packed
  • Funny
  • Smart
  • Original (Somewhat)
  • Great character development

Bad

  • Ending choice

Arthur (2011) Movie review

Lets go ahead and get this out of the way, I have not seen the original "Arthur" (Or its little known sequel)

With that said, "Arthur" was a fun, but not noteworthy film.
Everyone acted just fine, the movie looked good (Some scenes were gorgeous) but the script fell a little flat. The movie could have been more funny.

Mentioning funny, the movie got a bit serious and dramatic (One of my friends saying "I almost had man tears") It was a nice touch actually, I enjoy watching dramaedys.

Overall the movie is a matinée or rental at best

Good

  • Funny
  • Silly
  • Nice Drama
  • Character development

Bad
  • the script leaves a lot of room for laughs
  • Some characters could of been used a lot better
  • A little long
  • Ruined some dramatic moments for a cheap laugh

Movie Review: Your Highness (2011)

Let's start off by saying, Yes I enjoyed this movie.

"Your Highness" Is the new comedy from Cult actor Danny Mcbride (Eastbound and Down, Pineapple express) and James Franco (Spider-man, Pineapple Express)

The movie was made with no dialogue written, and sometimes it shows. But the longest you go without laughing is 5 minutes at most. The action is very good, and the movie is supringsly violent.

In all I'd say this is a matinée showing at best, not full price.

Good

Funny
  • Action packed
